White House Endorses Town Hall Project
Jim Towey, the White House Director of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, recently endorsed the Thou Shalt Honor Foundation's Town Hall Meeting project.
"I commend this effort to honor and care for our frail elderly," Towey said. The full text of the letter follows.
As we become a Nation that has more parents to care for than children, I applaud the effort of the Thou Shalt Honor Foundation to create a series of regional CareGiver and Eldercare Town Hall Meetings that will be later televised through the local and regional PBS stations. Based on the success of the original And Thou Shalt Honor PBS outreach project broadcast October 9, 2002, this new, continuing effort will encourage the education and enlightenment of our citizens through practical discussions with local, regional and national leaders in the caregiving and healthcare fields. Stimulating public forums that reach a wide and diverse audience, developed from grassroots community action initiatives, are very welcome, and can lead to enhanced caregiving that will uphold human dignity in times of serious illness. Faith-based and community organizations have been leaders in this effort.
I commend this effort to honor and care for our frail elderly in our society. God bless you.
Kind regards,
Jim Towey
Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
